I have a '07 Duramax running the Amsoil 15-40 and it is getting very dirty in 7-8000 miles and its starts burning it. I am burning 2 quarts in less than 8000 miles on a truck that only has 65,000 and has always been on Ams. On my original duramax, I could run the truck easy 10,000 miles and the oil looked pretty good. Is this because the '07 has an EGR and the '01 didn't?

Welcome to SMS. Yes the EGR has a lot to do with the black oil. If you haven't already, you should do the EGR blocker plate. This will help some. It is not uncommon to use up to 2 qts per drain interval. I am using about 2 in 25k miles. Let me know if you have any other questions.

A total EGR delete would be better. Got rid of mine just before Thanksgiving because it was leaking coolant. My oil has never looked better.
